I actually chose 35 inches which is my favorite length on my putter, but most of my friends likes and uses either 33 inches or 34 inches length on their putters.  .
最初は個人的に好んでいる 35インチの長さのものを選択いたしましたが、友人のほとんどは 33インチまたは 34インチのパターを愛用しています。

Therefore,  I've decided to modify the length of this putter to 33 1/2 and let my friends to try it out as many friends as possible. Even for me, it might be the right set up with this face-balanced putter which is new to me.
そういうわけで、できるだけ多くの友人が試し打ち出来るように長さを 33インチ半に調整することにしました。 私にとってもフェースバランスのパターは使い慣れていませんから、もしかしたらこのパターでの正しいセットアップになるかも知れません。

And also I've inserted the 50 grams Counter Core weight that I've introduced before for the better feel and balance with the heaviest heel-and-toe weights (15 grams x 2) on sole going with the shorter length.    .
もうひとつ、以前ご紹介しました 50g のカウンター・コア・ウエイトを装着いたしました。 短くなった長さとバランスするためにソールのヒール・アンド・トゥのウエイトを一番重い15g x 2 を入れて、カウンターでフィーリングが出やすくするためです。

It turned out that the friend I mentioned in the previous entry had 33 inches putter although he is a tall guy at 6-3 high. He thought he has 35 inches putter. Lol
以前の記事で書きました友人も、35インチかと思っていたらしいのですが33インチを使っていることが判明しました。188cmくらい身長があるのですけどね。(笑)

I did not understand that why almost everybody likes shorter putters. However, I could image that the shorter putters are easier to accomplish the perfectly pendulum stroke in straight line to the cup.
なんでほとんどのみんなが短めのパターが好きなのか私には分かりませんでしたが、おそらくストレート軌道の振り子式パットをしようとすると短い方がやりやすいのかな、とはイメージできます。

And this MLA putter should be a perfect fit for that type of putting stroke.
そしてこのMLAパターは、そのタイプのストロークをするには持って来いです。


At least 4 of my friends really likes the look of this MLA putter already, and really interested in how it performs for them in their golf rounds after listening to my explanation. Only one of my fried did not like the outlook.(It's you, George! Lol)
少なくともすでに友人のうち4人はこのMLAパターの見た目も気に入っていて、ラウンドで使った場合にどのくらい良いか興味津々です。 一人だけは見た目含めて気に入らないと言っていました。 (ジョージ、君だよ！(笑))


Anyway, I believe the next entry about MLA putter would be the putter review after the round of golf.

スイスから来たパター : MLA ツアー・クラシック ( Putter from Switzerland : MLA Tour Classic )

It pulled my eyes from the two "Most Wanted" putter competition run by MyGolfSpy.com last year.
昨年末に MyGolfSpy.com で行われました「一番欲しい」パターのコンテストでこのパターのことを知ってとても気になりました。

There were two competition events, and this putter was 2nd place among 28 Mullet Putters and also was 3rd place among 57 overall putters. What a consistent performance!
2度に渡るコンテストで、1度目は28本のマレット型パターの中で 2位の成績、そして2度目はブレード型との総合コンペで 57本中の 3位の成績だったのです。 なんという安定感でしょうか！

Testers putted five times from 5, 10, and 20 feet, each time continuing to putt until the ball went in the cup.
コンテストは、テスターたちがそれぞれ 5、10、20フィートの距離のパットを5回ずつ、ホールアウトするまで行い、

...and then, the results are evaluated by "Strokes gained 18" which is a reliable statistical analysis method.
そして結果は「Strokes gained 18 (18ホールで何打セーブすることが出来たか)」という統計手法で計算されました。

上のリンクがマレットの28本の方で、
下がブレード型も含めた全体のコンペです。


I was really interested in how the white ergonomically designed figure on the MLA putter works on our brain and help us to stroke straighter putts. Twice of 92 percentile and 95 percentile competition results must have something in there.
MLAパターに人間工学に基づいてデザインされている白い形がどのように脳に直接働きかけて真っ直ぐに打つストロークをさせてくれるのか気になりますよね。
コンテストで2回とも、上位8パーセント、5パーセントに入賞するっていうのは、なんかすごいものがあるんだろうと思うんです。


I copied the white figure which is called Multiple Line detector Activation and put it onto my putter and tried it, if you remember my previous entry.
前回の記事をご覧になった方は、MLA (マルチ・ライン・センサー・アクティベーション)と呼ばれる白い形をコピーしてパターに貼り付けてパットしてみたことはご存じですよね。

It certainly gave me a great image and vision, and let me be focused on "holing a ball into the cup".
なんか「カップに入れるんだ」、っていうイメージが湧いてくる感じはしました。

However, placing just a copy paper onto the putter would not be the same as the actual putter itself.
I must be missing some important aspect or function from the actual putter that worked great for all the people got involved in the best putter competition.
でもですね、コピーして紙をパターに貼っただけじゃぁこのパターそのもののではありませんし、これだけすごい結果を出したコンテストのみなさんに効果があった性能を欠いているかもしれません。


Now I have the putter from Switzerland. Ta-da!
ということで、スイスからパターがやって来ました。 じゃじゃーん！

What a nice look!
It also came with three sets of different weights and a tool in the box.
なかなかカッコ良いですねー。
3種類のウエイトのセットが工具と一緒に箱に入って付いてきます。 

The putter originally has two 5 grams on the sole for the toe-heel balance, and the others are 10 grams and 15 grams.
オリジナルにはパターのソールに 5g のウエイトがヒール-トゥ・バランスするように付いていまして、他に 10g と 15g のペアがあります。

The head cover has 4 magnets to seal and protect the head.
ヘッドカバーには4つの磁石が内蔵されてて、カバーを閉じてヘッドを保護します。

I was little bit surprised that it said "Designed in Sweden" in a small print on the back of the head.
ちょっと驚いたのですが、バックフェースには小さい字で「Designed in Sweden (スエーデン)」って書かれていました。

こちらの写真にはパターとヘッドカバーのソールの部分を。 ナンバー1 AIM (狙い) って書いてありますね。

The putter head is nicely face balanced.
The shaft has no labels at all. I like it that way.
パターヘッドはフェースバランスになってますね。
シャフトには何のラベルもシールも貼られていません。 シンプルで良いですね。


I noticed this putter head attracts magnet, because the magnets of the cover stack on the head while I was trying to put it on.
パターにカバーをかけようとして途中でくっ付いたので、このパターヘッドは磁石に付くんだって気がつきました。

The material of the head might be ...like SUS420 or SUS430, I guess?
ヘッド素材はステンレスの SUS420かSUS430 辺りでしょうかね？

I like this function for two reasons.
磁性があるのは良いんですよ。 2つ理由があります。

1) After holing out, you can pick up the head cover on the green with the putter head. Lol
1) 一つは、ホールアウトした後にパターヘッドにくっ付けてヘッドカバーを拾い上げることが出来ます。(笑)

2) Now this trick I can do,

My bad,  I did not notice about the grain of the wood floor did not align with the target, but the putter face and Multiple Line detector Activation certainly do, and I was able to confirm it using my orange laser pointer  in the picture of the above. This laser pointer has the magnet on its bottom and stick on to the putter head nicely.
写真アップした後で気付きましたが、木目がターゲット方向に真っ直ぐになっていなくって、すみません。でもパターフェースとMLA (Multiple Line detector Activation) の白い形はちゃんと向いています。写真のオレンジ色のレーザーポインターで確認しましたからね。 このレーザーポインターはお尻にマグネットがありまして、パターヘッドにピタッと付くんです。
 
According to this test myself, this putter is very much easy and accurate to be set it up at the target.
まずは自分で試してみましたが、ターゲットにまっすぐ構えるのが簡単だし正確ですね。

Along with the Multiple Line detector Activation white figure, the putter head itself looks pretty much rectangle from the top view.
MLA (Multiple Line detector Activation) の白い形もそうなんですけど、パターヘッドも真上から見たかたちがほぼ長方形なんですよね。


After I changed the weights to 10 and 15 grams, I hang the putter to see the gravity center of entire putter as usually I check.
ソールのウエイトを 10g と 15g と入れ替えてみまして、いつもの様にぶら下げてみてパター全体の重心を確認してみました。

It perfectly aligns with vertical line in the direction to the face straight front since this is a face balanced putter.
When I do the plumb-bob, this would be the direction.
フェースバランスのパターですからね、フェースを向いた方向から見て鉛直線とシャフトが真っ直ぐです。
プラムボブをやる時はこの方向ってことですね。


It is kind of hard to take the data myself better than the two competitions above I linked in terms of quantity of the data and also nothing to compare with.
私一人がこのパターを使って上のリンクの2つのコンテスト以上にデータを採ることは、量的にも難しいですし、他のパターとの比較も出来ません。

I would play this putter for several rounds of golf as well as I would ask my friends to play some golf rounds with this putter especially the ones who uses the same 35 inch length as I do.
そういうことで何ラウンドかこのパターを使ってラウンドしてみるのと、友人にも何ラウンドか使ってみてもらおうかと思っています。 特に私と同じ35インチ使ってる友人が良いですね。

追記 (5/18/2016) ：

びっくりしたー。 スイスからコメントいただきましたよ。

www.mla.golf  からアクセスして頂いて、通貨を日本円にセットしてオーダーすれば、送料無料で日本に送ってくれるそうです。

苦手なコースで (しかもお値段高め)、近いのに何年も行っていなかった Strawberry Farms GC をラウンドしてきました。

コースサイトのレイアウト図にありますように、後半の 9ホールは 35エーカーもある大きな貯水湖の周りを回るように配置されていて景色は圧巻です。

でも上の写真の 10番とか、難しそうでしょう？
(パー取れましたけどね。)


こちらは 18番ホールのグリーンへのアプローチです。

この写真の位置からでも 110yぐらいありますが、私の2打目地点からはあのグリーンに 150-160y程度で打っていかねばなりませんので、最後まで難しいホールが続きます。
(やや安全なグリーン右サイドに外し、寄せ切れずボギーにしました。)

正直なところ私自身も半信半疑なのですが、いつものようにご紹介しつつ自分を実験台にして実験してみようかなと思ったりしてこの\エントリーをアップします。

ちょっとゴルフ界には珍しいのでしょうか、MLA Golf はスイスのメーカーです。

あるサイトで紹介されているのをみまして、そしてさらに別のサイトではバイアスなしのパターの一斉テストって記事が上がっていまして、そこで3位に食い込んでいたパターがこれで、すごく興味を引かれました。

2015年、57本のパターでどれが一番欲しいか決定戦  (by MyGolfSpy.com)


このテストは、5フィート、10フィート、20フィートから (50回ずつかな？) パットをして、Strokes gained 18 というデータの比較で順位を決めたものです。
最近のスポーツ・スタッツはPGAもそうですが、field(他の全員)に対してどれだけgain(利得)があったか、という統計の手法が主流ですね。
18ホールで何打ストロークが少なかったか、というデータに換算されています。


こちらがそのスイス製のパターです。

ラインナップの中の Classicというモデルでおそらくこれが最初に開発されたのだろうと思われます。

パターのスタイルは大きく分けて3種類、ネック形状や色のバリエーションなども含めますと今のところ11種類ほどあるようですね。

2位にも、Carbon Ringo 1/4という見慣れないパターが入賞していますが、コロラドで無垢の炭素鋼のブロックからパターヘッドをネックごと削り出しで作った精巧なパターってことなので、スルーしときます。(設計のベースはANSER 2 ですもんね、見るからに。）


さて、MLAのテクノロジーの方ですが、MLA Concept というページに説明がされています。

人間工学の先生、Dr. Lennart Högman, Ph.D が、20年にわたる人間の認識能力と実際行動に移すときの運動能力の関係を良好にする技術を応用し、デザインした形状がこちらだそうです。

Multiple Line detector Activation の頭文字をとってMLA。

説明を読んでもよく分からないのですが、とりあえず受け打っておきますと、(^^；

人間の脳には10万本もの線を嗅ぎ出すセンサーがあって、そのセンサーはいくつかのグループに分かれている。
それを複数本呼び起こしてやることにより、真っ直ぐというのを認識しやすくなる。
そしてその複数本の直線をアライメントに活かして、実際のストロークを行うときに真っ直ぐな動きをする助けをしてくれるように緻密に設計された図が、上の図の白い形です。


しかしあまり沢山の直線を呼び起こしてしまうとセンサー同士が干渉を起こしてしまい、こちらの図のように実際には平行な直線が斜めに見えたり曲がって見えたりしてしまうのだ。

この図は、縦横全部直線で構成されているわけですね。

逆に、2つ上のデザインされた図形のように適度の曲線と直線で構成され、むしろコーナーですとか折れ曲がった部分で作られる直線、図で言いますと4本の緑色の矢印を利用するとカップ方向へのアライメントが不思議とビシッと決まり、さらにストロークした時にも体が4本の緑色の矢印の方向へ正しく動かしてくれやすくなる、というシステムになっているようです。


なんだか知らないうちにアライメントが合い、そしてストロークが真っ直ぐ出てくれる。
自分では意識しないうちにカップインが増えている。

これはちょっと欲しくなりますね！
